THE SOPATA FAMILY!

The Nordonia Hills Soccer Association would like to thank Kevin, Sharon, Alexis and Dylan Sopata for all of their hard work in bringing THE NHSA to life! Kevin and his family have helped create the league, built the goals for Smith Park, put together flags and has coached at the U-10 level. At one point last week, Kevin coached the entire U-10 age group during a Tribe play-off game.....
The Sopata's hard work and going above and beyond has helped make this a very special league in its first season. We would like to give a very sincere "THANK YOU" for everything! We are quite blessed to have such a special family apart of our league!

What an exciting first practice ever for The Nordonia Hills Soccer Association. It was truly a thrill to see so many kids playing soccer in their new uniforms! Special thanks to everyone who helped get us ready for our first official day and to those parents who were patient with us. This is a new league and, with your help, will grow into a very strong youth soccer league!

As we have said before, we had around 100 more sign-ups than we anticipated. That has caused us to scramble to make sure the uniforms, practices and games are all set. As we enter into our second week of practice and our first week of games, we are confident we are prepared for a fun weekend of soccer.

For Thursday's practice, please have your player go to where they practiced last week. Make sure they are prepared with their full uniforms, shinguards, water bottle and whatever else they may need. Practice, as always, is at 6pm at Sagamore Park for ALL AGE GROUPS. Our game schedule is posted on the front of the website and is quite simple:

ALL U-1o PLAYERS play their games on Saturdays at Smith Park on Houghton at 9:30 EVERY WEEK.

ALL U-6 and U-10 PLAYERS play their games Saturdays at Sagamore Park at 11am EVERY WEEK.

I would like to remind you that we are constantly updating our photo gallery page with pictures from practices and games. To access it, click on the words PHOTO GALLERY on the front of the website. There are more pix up there as of today.

REMINDERS:

**WEATHER RELATED INFO FOR PRACTICES AND GAMES IS AVAILABLE ON OUR WEBSITE AND BY CALLING 440-570-2593.

With less than a week before our first practice, we are another step closer to making The Nordonia Hills Soccer Association come to life. Thank you to everyone who helped with our uniform pick-up day on Saturday.

Our league has gotten off to a huge start! Initially , we had hoped for 80-100 kids. With your support and interest, we have signed up 177 total players. That has caused us to make some adjustments in locations for practices and games and uniform orders. We ask for your patience and want to let you know that we are all about communication and handling the details. For a first year league, we have been able to accomplish so much in such a short time. Please work with us...we are confident you will be more than satisfied with your families soccer experience this fall.

I would like to apologize to anyone who was unable to get their jersey. We had an issue with the screen printer that left us about 25 jerseys short. This will be corrected next week and we will make sure everyone gets their jersey.

Thank you to RITA'S in Macedonia for providing us with treats for the day. RITA'S will be at all of our games and practices providing us with free treats for everyone.

QUESTIONS YOU MAY HAVE....

WHEN WILL I GET MY PLAYER'S JERSEY? If your player signed up before early August, the jerseys will arrive before this upcoming practice on August 30th. We will distribute them at practice. Watch the website for info updates on that. If you just recently signed up, your jersey will be ordered Monday and we should have them by our first game the week of Labor Day Weekend.

SHOULD MY PLAYER WEAR FULL UNIFORM FOR PRACTICE AND GAMES?
Yes. We will be using the reversable jerseys for scrimmages during practice. We would suggest an under-shirt for players in case they need to switch during practices and games.

WHEN WILL WE GET GAME SCHEDULES?
The U-10 games will be played at SMITH PARK every Saturday at 9:30am. ALL OTHER AGE GROUPS will play at SAGAMORE PARK at 11am every Saturday.

WILL THERE BE AN END OF YEAR BANQUET?
Yes. Details are being worked on now.

WHEN IS THE PARADE MY PLAYER CAN BE A PARTCIPANT IN?
Sunday, September 16th at 2pm. We are asking ALL players in the league to wear their uniforms and march with us. Details coming soon.

WILL THERE BE RESTROOMS AT SMITH PARK?
Yes. This week.

Once again, I encourage you to keep checking back in with our website. You will constantly get updates on what's happening with the league. You will find weather related info on our site, photo galleries from each practice and game and all the in special event info.

Thank you for bringing the NHSA to life. We are looking forward to exciting Fall soccer season!

QUICK NHSA LEAGUE UPDATE....

As the first ever practice for the NHSA nears, the excitement for our new league builds. We have far surpassed sign-up expectations and the league set up is going as planned. We are truly excited about our brand of soccer and we are very confident that the players, parents and coaches will have an awesome experience this Fall!

The number of signed up players has gone over 150! The Ohio Youth Soccer people tell us that we have far exceeded what new soccer leagues do in their first year!

Our "Academy" style of soccer is highly recommended at every level of the soccer community. We have spent a great deal of time learning about how to teach kids soccer and we are confident that each player will benefit from what we are all about!

Our calendar of events is filling up fast...please put the following dates on your dayplanner...

COACHES MEETING: Thursday, August 23 6:30-8:30 NORDONIA LIBRARY. Coaches will be introduced to the NHSA brand of soccer and get info on how practices and games will work.

OPENING DAY RIBBON CUTTING AND ICE CREAM SOCIAL: Saturday, August 25 between 11am - 2pm. Mayor cuts the ribbon at Smtih Park at Noon. Uniforms will be distributed to those in attendance. Feel free to stop by between those hours.

FIRST PRACTICE: Thursday, August 30 6pm (for less than 90 mins)...ALL PRACTICES have been moved to SAGAMORE PARK across from the Sagamore Hills Town Hall/police station. Because we signed up more kids than expected, the larger field was necessary so we could all practice at the same time.

ALL GAMES will be played on Saturdays at SMITH PARK.

The Nordonia Hills Soccer Association will keep you updated with everything you need to know throughout the season. Feel free to check in with this website and blog for the very latest. If you have any questions about anything to do with the league, call 440-570-2593 or email us through this website.

Welcome to the 2007 Fall Soccer Season with The Nordonia Hills Soccer Association. Thank you for helping to make this a very special inaguarl season!
